Meet our University Representatives!

  • University Representative Coordinator (University of Guelph, ON)

Tess joined Sex and Self because they want to encourage a safe and open environment for people to talk about sex without any judgment. She explains that sexual education failed to properly explain the definition of sexual assault to include manipulation and coercion, something that she had to learn the hard way. Moreover, sex remained defined as between penis and vagina owners and other forms of sex were not discussed.

  • University Representative, Toronto Metropolitan University

I joined Sex and Self because conversations surrounding our bodies should not be a taboo subject. Through education, I want to work to dismantle the shame that surrounds sex and empower others to love and accept themselves exactly as they are.

  • University Representative, University of Quebec in Montreal

I decided to join Sex and Self to help other get an open and good sexual education, raise awareness about sexual health and in general to break the taboo about sexuality itself!

  • University Representative at The University of Guelph

I wanted to be involved with something I am passionate about while pushing myself out of my comfort zone.

  • University Representative at The University of Carleton

I wanted to be a part of an organization that has so many facets to it that are near and dear to my heart. I've had a lot of moments where I have second guessed my own experiences because I simply was not aware of my own autonomy. It took a long time for me to be able to learn my own boundaries and make peace with my experiences with sex, reproductive issues and consent and I want to be a part of something that provides education, empowerment and an outlet so less people have to struggle second guessing themselves and feel safe establishing and owning their boundaries.

  • University Representative at Western University

I decided to join Sex and Self because I genuinely believe that comprehensive sexual education and easily accessible resources are fundamental necessities that are difficult to find. Everyone deserves to feel empowered through practicing sexual self-care and obtaining sexual knowledge. I admire how Sex and Self positively encourages sexual awareness by advocating for an in-depth understanding of sexual pleasure, sexual boundaries, and sexual safety through a highly accessible and inclusive platform.
